So, as the holy month begins, the scorching summer temperatures should start going in the right direction again, soon, hopefully. We’ve been keeping busy this summer with a row of projects! We recently started working with Leo Burnett, and so far we’ve done a job for Baileys and another one for LVQR. We’ve also started to work with Impact BBDO, delivering an Anchor job a few weeks ago. We’ve also started working with Onboard International, taking inflight entertainment to the next level, which is really exciting. So welcome to all our new clients! ☺
But wait, there’s more! With Ramadan now in full effect there has of course been quite a few jobs for that. We’ve done a new project for IBM, and we’ve done some slight updates to our reel, so you should definitely check that out.

We are starting to feel like parrots saying how hectic things are every month, but hey – so sue us!!! Or wait, don’t do that..! Anyway, lately we’ve been cracking away on a bunch of adaptations for clients such as Clear, CloseUp, Lux, L’Oreal, and many more. And we’re very proud to have created a new Coke TVC that came out really awesome in a very short time span. We also did a brand launch video for the Sharjah Light Festival; graphics for a Pepsi corporate; and a 2010 update of the Dragon Oil video.
That’s about it. We got some work running right now that we can’t really talk about. We also got a few new prospective clients that we hope to be working with in the short future. So stay put!

So it’s been quite crazy recently here at the RT HQ. In a good way. Apart from delivering TVC’s for Coca Cola, Zain, Kraft, Viva, Etisalat, and The Ministry of Islamic Affairs in Doha (you can watch these in our work section), plus loads of smaller jobs, we’ve also spent the last month creating a complete graphics package for a new TV show called “No Boundaries”. This is a documentary style travel show, and apart from the graphics, we’re handling all the post production for the entire season. This meant flying in an editor from Italy specifically for the job, organizing VO’s and composing a complete music package with Swedish wunderkinds Red Pipe. So over the next 6 months we are editing and finalizing no less than 12 episodes at 53 min each for the South African/American production company, Rainmaker Films.
In addition to all this, we’re also super happy to now having started to work with JWT in KSA, Eye Squad in Dubai/Beirut, and we’re also doing some new work for Dragon Oil and HQ Creative.
So things are looking as bright as Dubai in July!

Busy times, indeed..! Please check our Work section for some new cool projects. And our Reel is also updated now, and it’s more awesome than ever. We got some very interesting projects lined up, one of which is a really long-term job, where we again will fly in some kick-ass talents to help out.
Oh, we know we’ve been going on about it too much, but we have to point out that our fake trailer, went from 100k hits in December, to way over 200k hits in less than 3 months. Show us one viral in town that’s been more successful, we dare you, we double dare you!
It apparently got nominated in the Best Animation category as well at Digital Studio Awards 2010.

So in November things picked up big time. We’ve been working the whole month on a big job for Wunderman (secret!), with freelancers flown in to help out, and delivery should be just before X-mas. It looks great! We also delivered graphics for a corporate video for German company KTI early in the month. And we’ve started on a nice TVC for JWT. Oh! Our trailer has now had well over 100,000 hits on Youtube. We did some versioning of an Etisalat TVC that we created earlier this year. And we continue to quote, quote and quote. And somehow, amidst all this, we managed to squeeze in a bit of an Eid holiday as well. So all’s well and good. Don’t forget to follow our daily shenanigans on our blog Almost a Mullet!

Quick news post this month. We are busy. Things are going well. New biiig job for Wunderman underway. Flying in extra 3d artists to help out. New workstations purchased. Been doing a lot of stuff for Lowe. Soon done with the corporate. Another corporate possibly starting soon. Shooting and posting a TVC for Zaman. Canceling Halloween, Eid and National Day this year to work, but Xmas and New Years still seem possible. The trailer soon hits 100k views. Hermann got a mohawk. Henrik won an iPod at Shelter. We bought a BluRay burner. Promise our News for next month will be a bit more fluffed up.

Ramadan has come to an end, and summer is also drawing to an end. But Rolling Thunder sees no reason to slow down! Except for a well needed 2-day Eid break. So, what have we been up to recently then, work wise? We did a TVC for Dubai Cares. We did another TVC for Lipton. We’ve started work on a big corporate video (we can’t disclose the client at this stage). We’ve finalized a second TVC for Homes R Us. We did an editing job for IBM. We're about to start on another TVC for a very well known client that we will tell you more about soon.
Oh, and our
fake movie trailer keeps on entertaining people online, at the moment of writing this we’ve had well over 50,000 unique hits! But as we’ve not done any magazine or radio interviews in a while now, we’re suffering from a mild case of media attention withdrawals. Guess that will change once we unleash our next in-house project on the world hehe.
But, all-in-all, things are going quite awesome at the moment!

We are! After recently issuing our trailer spoof about Dubai 2010 we’ve had some amazing feedback! The entire RT team is humbled by some of the comments we’ve received from clients and friends alike. Originally a small mail out promo, it’s now generating thousands of hits on youtube, and has been featured on sites as far away as San Fransisco and in Russia. Maktoob Business ranked us number 34 on their hottest company in town list, which is sort of unreal. Or not. We were also featured in both The National and Khaleej Times. Front page material, baby!
But we're not letting fame get to our heads hehe, we’ve been busy with actual work as well of course. We did a new TVC for Etisalat; we delivered bumpers for Kraft; We’ve done an edit for an events company; we’ve started on a new TVC for Homes R Us; we are doing some architectural still renders; and we’re working on a few TVC’s for Ramadan.
Who said summer was quiet?

Must.. not.. spend.. time… writing news… Quickly then, what’s happened lately? We did a scrumptious job on an animation for Kit Kat. We've done a TVC for Etisalat. We kept busy with no less than two top secret hush-hush projects. We graded a new scene and composited a new shot for Dolphin Energy TVC. We finalized and delivered the first of six Homes R Us TVC’s.
And we’ve kept on quoting like there’s no tomorrow, as always. Seems like 2d cell animation is the in thing at the moment. And we thought it was chromatic aberration..?
Anywho, amidst all this, we’ve also kicked the evil nicotine habit.
Sure looks like summer is gearing up to be a rager.

Summer is slowly approaching, but so far there are no signs of work slowing down for us. This month we’re happy to welcome DAC Productions and BPG as new clients, who we helped out on TVC’s for The Dubai Mall. We’ve also finished a motion graphics based TVC for Sunsilk, and we’re just about to finalize a TVC for Homes R Us, which we’ll write more about soon. We also have some secret stuff in the pipeline that we hope we can tell you more about soon!

Talk about kick starting 2009! Not only did we get short-listed as Best Animation House in the Middle East region 2009 at the Digital Studio Awards, but we have also completely defied the much talked about credit crunch and have been crazy busy working on a number of new projects! Highlights include a 2-minute logo reveal video for the branding of the Sultanate of Oman, a behind-the-scenes video for DIFF and a very cool TVC for Dolphin Energy shot on RED (more on this job soon)! We’re also proud to welcome Action Impact, JWT and TBWA\RAAD as new clients!

2008 was one hell of a ride! ☺ And we are more than ready to tackle 2009 head on! In typical year-end top 10 list-style, here are some top moments we experienced in 2008:
1. A wide-eyed team walks in to the new office. It smells like fresh paint and we are filled with wonder.
2. A bleary-eyed team delivers one of our best projects ever to German Director Roman Kuhn. Can you say 72-hour shift?
3. Our meat cleaver marketing campaign has Dubai's creative industry ...split their sides.
4. We do VFX supervision for a big budget project. We get our own directors' chairs. Can you say ego?
5. We glow with pride as we drive past the Masafi billboard on Sheikh Zayed Road.
On a different note, here are some personal highlights for the RT team members:
1. Henrik rolled out the beats to a highly appreciative audience at Alpha
2. Ziad (A.K.A. DJ Zizou) swept Dubai's salsa crowd off their feet with his seductive sounds - at more than one salsa party.
3. Lazhar got married!
4. Hermann got over his fear of physical training and is now running almost 10 km!
5. More professional than personal, but Hannelize survived her first year in post.
Our office will be closed between 22 December and 5 January. You can of course still reach us via e-mails, so we're available for quoting etc.
PS. Do check out Dubai-based hip hop legend DJ Solo’s jazz mix he did exclusively for our blog, Almost A Mullet, But Not Quite. While you're there, also have a look at the pictures of our new HQ.
Merry Christmas everyone and happy New Year!

It is early September, Ramadan has started, and even though it might not feel like it, we’re now moving on to the cooler months of the year again. After an extremely busy first half of 2008 we managed to keep busy during July and August, despite a lot of people going on holiday.
We’re very happy to have started working with two new agencies, Impact BBDO and Saatchi & Saatchi. We have also done quite a bit of adaptation work for both Lowe and FP7, and apparently the Almaz by MOMO commercials we did for Team Y&R in June have now been short listed for something called the Luzherer’s Archive (almost sounds like the “loser’s archive”, doesn’t it hehe?). We have also started working on two new architectural jobs for Pink House and Edmonton Admire. Our new office we’re fitting out in Studio City is slightly delayed, but we’re scheduled being operational by the end of this month, and it will be truly awesome once we’re there! In between all this we’ve managed to take some time off to travel as well, and we want to extend our warmest congratulations to our 3d artist Lazhar, who tied the knot and got married this summer! Oh, and make sure to check out the first in a series of DJ mixes we started at our blog, Almost A Mullet, But Not Quite! It’s done by local club-hero Da:Funct, and it’s truly fantastic!
Now things are really picking up for us, and we have loads of exciting projects coming up within the next few weeks! Which we can of course only tell you about when they’re official. Til then –stay tuned.

We are sure that you agree about the fact that not only is there more to life than work, but you also need to have a bit of fun to do better at work. So, that said, here's our playground, a blog that we call Almost a mullet, but not quite. Expect the unexpected.

As you might notice, we have done a major revamp of our website. We wanted to go with something a lot cleaner and stylish, and streamline everything. We hope you like it as much as we do, and that you check back often, as we will update it a lot more regularly. Big thanks goes out to webguru Malak how helped design the site!
